On Friday, June 24, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings will headline the season finale of Friday Cheers at Brown’s Island. The last opportunity I had to see the band, tickets were $25 each. Even better: Kids age 12 & under are free.
Gates open at 6:00 p.m., and the opener, The New Belgians, should start playing at around 6:30 p.m. You can order tickets online via Tickets to Buy or buy them at one of the two entry points to Brown’s Island. Payment is taken at both locations, but debit and credit cards (Visa and Mastercard) are only accepted at the pedestrian bridge at 7th Street.
If you want to sample the music before you head out, go to SharonJonesAndTheDapKings.com. The site is set up to play through the band’s catalog of songs; I’ve had it open in the background while writing today’s posts, and they’ve yet to play a song I’ve wanted to skip. And the live show is even better.
You can bring a lawn chair & blankets with you, but pets are not allowed at Friday Cheers.
