Jazz is best heard live.
If I didn’t already have plans for Saturday, I’d head out for this:
On select Saturdays from June-August, head out to the Wilton House Museum for the Jammin’ on the James concert series. The free concerts start at 6:00 p.m. Bring a picnic and a lawn chair or blanket & relax on Wilton’s terrace, which overlooks the James River.
Here’s the lineup for the 2012 season:
- June 23: Emme St. James and her Jazz Gentlemen
- July 14: Susan Greenbaum
- August 11: The Slack Family Bluegrass Band
While you’re there, you can take a walk-through tour of Wilton and let the kids get creative with face-painting, games, and crafts. Jammin’ on the James will take place rain or shine.
