Compared to earlier this week, I suppose the re-enactors are getting a break since this weekend’s temps are ‘only’ expected to reach a high of 90 degrees…

On June 23 & 24, 2012, the Battle of Gaines’ Mill Living History Weekend will take place at Gaines’ Mill Battlefield. From 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. both days, there’ll be demonstrations about everything from the use of balloons during the Civil War to life and activities in camp and on the battle field. And there’ll be NPS Ranger-led walking tours about civilians affected by the Civil War at the Watt House, calvary & artillery demonstrations, and more (full schedule).

Anniversary activities will take place from 10:00 a.m.-8:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27. During the day, you can take NPS Ranger-led walking & hiking tours, or head out in the evening for the Special Commemorative Anniversary Program:
