Demolition of the Huguenot Bridge begins next week. I’ll actually miss this structure. As a kid, we used it for every trip to see my grandma, and it has always invoked a strong nostalgic response.

Want to say goodbye to the bridge? On July 1, 2012, head out for a Huguenot Bridge Farewell Celebration. From 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., you can walk, bike, or picnic (no glass containers or alcohol allowed) on the bridge.

In order to safely access the old bridge, you’ll need to enter by foot or bike via the closed ramp from Riverside Drive on the south end of the bridge. Parking will be available along Riverside Drive.
