Holiday Homes Light Show. RVA has no shortage of lights this holiday season! Christmas is all aglow around town. Check out the map at the link and scout out a few of these light shows during December.
Outdoor Skating at Stony Point Fashion Park. the kids and skate, spin, and glide on Stony Point Fashion Park’s Outdoor Skating Rink! Enjoy free holiday concerts, animated light show, horse drawn carriage rides, skate with a super hero, and more. Visit website for special dates, events, and times.
Illuminate Light Show and Santa’s Village at the Meadow. November 18, 2016 – January 1, 2017. As you drive through the park you will experience hundreds of thousands of LED lights synchronized to music from your car radio. The show features an 80-foot tunnel of lights, 50-foot Christmas trees, dancing snowmen and festive decorations. After the show, spend some time in Santa’s Village, where fun awaits your whole family. There will be pictures with Santa, children’s activities, Christmas trees, food and more.
A Christmas Story at VA Rep. Through January 1, 2017. Featuring an ensemble of talented young actors, catchy tunes, and energetic dance numbers, this Tony-nominated musical re-imagines young Ralphie’s quest for the perfect Christmas gift. Sharply clever and sentimental, A Christmas Story is nostalgic, quirky, holiday fun. Suggested for ages 8 and up. Mild adult language. 2 hours 15 minutes.
Dominion Gardenfest of Lights at Lewis Ginter. Through January 19, 2017. A holiday tradition with over half a million twinkling lights, music, firepit, refreshments, and more.
Maymont Mansion Holiday Tours.Through December 31, 2016. For six weeks, Maymont is decked out for the holidays! Kids and adults alike will enjoy the beautiful decorations and delightful events that attract visitors from all over the country and the world. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the season!
Polar Express at the Science Museum of Virginia. Climb aboard on the Polar Express! The Polar Express movie will be showing at 3 pm, 5 pm and 7 pm in The Dome and reservations are required.
Busch Gardens Christmas Town. Through January 2, 2017. Experience Christmas traditions from around the world and keep warm with a mug of Busch Gardens’ signature hot chocolate. Share in a unique celebration featuring seasonal stage shows, tourist attractions, and special Christmas shopping, all happening in the glow of more than 8 million twinkling lights. Select days between Nov. 25 – Jan. 2, 2017.
Live Christmas Nativity at the Richmond Zoo. December 21-23. If you’re looking for a living nativity pageant in metro Richmond, you may want to head to the zoo December 21, 22, and/or 23.
New Years Celebrations: December 31
Noon Year’s Eve at the Science Museum. 10am-1pm. Ring in the Noon Year with the Museum! Count down to noon to see a dramatic and quirky version of the traditional ball drop! Kick off the New Year right with science on your side – watch 2,017 bouncy balls, paper streamers and confetti bring our Rotunda to life for a special ball drop and toast with apple juice to celebrate the New Year.
