Kings Dominion offers families a chance to experience international cultures and cuisine without setting foot on an airplane! The Grand Carnivale provides amazing entertainment, fun crafts, authentic international cuisine, allowing everyone to enjoy this larger than life celebration.
Grand Carnivale begins at 4:00 P.M. with a vibrant Royal Opening Ceremony. Following the kick-off, my family headed straight for the Carnivale Crafts. Both my 4 and 7 year old were able to find activities ideal for their abilities. Wearing and making their respective crowns surely added to the festivities!
Following craft-making, we headed to the stage for the Royal Rhythms portion. We were enthralled by the drum line, juggler, and incredible, Cirque du Soleil style acrobatics. The performers are interactive and fully encourage audience participation. Yes, I was that Mom doing the Cupid Shuffle!
The Spectacle of Color Parade concludes the festival. With floats, international music and engaging performers, it is no wonder we were sad to say “au revoir” to Kings Dominion.
Money Matters: Fortunately, Grand Carnivale is included with daily park admission; which is perfect for taking in rides and playing at Soak City before taking in the parade, shows and delicious foods. In order to sample foods from 6 countries, patrons must purchase a Tasting Card. To try foods from 9 countries is $50; 6 countries is $35. Grand Carnivale runs through August 1, 2021. Children, ages 2 and under are free; children, ages 3-5 are free with the Pre-K pass.
Kings Dominion & Soak City is located at 10061 Kings Dominion Blvd., Doswell, VA, 23047
