More than ever, FeedMore is in need of donations for those who don’t have food.
Food donations make up a critical foundation of their feeding efforts. To help ensure that food is available when and where it is most needed, FeedMore must obtain as much food as possible at little to no cost. This takes the contributions of individuals, groups and food industry donors, who host food drives, provide food in local drop boxes, and donate products for distribution.
If you’re looking for an easy and inexpensive way to give back, consider FeedMore. The top most needed foods according to their website today are;
1. Peanut Butter
2. Canned Tuna & Chicken
3. Low Sodium Veggies
4. Fruits Packed in Juice
5. Spaghetti Sauce (No Glass)
6. Canned or Dry Beans
7. Hot & Cold Cereal
8. Whole Grain Snacks
You can drop-off food donations or they will pick them up if necessary. Due to limited transportation resources, they are only able to pick up donations of 250 pounds or more, which is typically about 350 items that can fit in two large food drive boxes or six small boxes. Due to Virginia Department of Health and the United States Department of Agriculture guidelines, they cannot distribute homemade goods or anything that has not been produced in an inspected kitchen and subject to VDH and USDA review.
They’ll also provide a free toolkit for a fundraising effort by individuals, groups, or corporations. The kit includes:
- Instructions & Tips
- Shopping List
- 1/2 Page Handout
- Large Sign
- Small Sign
- How To Use Food Drive Donation Boxes
Consider giving back and helping those who need food. It’s important all year long and thanks to FeedMore, there is help and hope. And if you’re in need, visit their website for information.
