Hoppy Easter!
Put on your most colorful Easter costume and make your way down to Monument Avenue on Easter Sunday, for Richmond’s annual Easter on Parade festival. As always, the event It is a free, family-and-pet-friendly event open to the public.
Now in its 53rd year, this year’s annual parade will take place Sunday, April 5th, from 1pm to 5 pm.
Event Details
The Easter on Parade festival in Richmond began in 1973 as a unique community event in which attendees are the actual parade. That’s right, there is not actually a formal parade, but everyone in attendance is welcome to dress up in colorful costumes and walk around to view and be viewed as they make their way along several blocks of Monument Avenue between Davis and North Allen Avenues in Richmond’s Fan District.
Contests
Affectionately known as one of the Richmond area’s best annual “people-watching” events, the “parade” usually draws about 25,000 attendees and their dogs and other pets, adorned in their Easter best or flamboyant costumes and includes bonnet contests for both humans and pets.
Entertainment
Multiple live music stages for live music will be set up as well local craft and food booths.
