On Thursday, Feb. 12, The Valentine history museum, 1015 East Clay St. in downtown Richmond, will be featuring its 13th annual Controversy/History series from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The event is free to the public and encourages attendees to discuss their perspectives on the city’s most pressing issues within the framework of the past, present and future of downtown Richmond.
This year’s topic will be “Common Good(s): Taking Downtown Richmond to the Next Level,” which will examine key shared resources, including transit, infrastructure, and arts and media.
PlanRVA, a part of the Richmond Regional Planning District, will provide case studies and data about the downtown to foster conversations about why a vibrant city center and revitalization are important to helping Richmond’s downtown reach its full potential as a community worth celebrating.
Other panelists will include:
- Jenny Crittenden, President and CEO at Retail Alliance Virginia
- Rasheeda N. Creighton, Executive Director at the JWC Foundation
- Courtney Mailey, Program Manager of Virginia’s Main Street America Coordinating Program
