The theatre has been in operation for nearly 100 years, having first opened in 1928.What’s more, house organist Bob Gulledge plays a genuine antique Wurlitzer organ before nearly every film showing, emerging from within the stage itself!
The Byred Theatre has a full concession stand, including some adult beverages and shows daily and nightly movies from every just about genre and decade. Movies include older classics, recent-run movies and cult classics. CLICK HERE for a schedule of upcoming movies.
The Byrd Theatre is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, with the express purpose of purchasing, restoring and preserving this theatre as a vital community resource. The Foundation says it works to integrate cultural, educational and community events into the Theatre’s programming.
