Do You Fondue?
Fondue originated in Switzerland’s Alpine regions for a very practical reason: to find a use for hardened cheese and stale bread during the cold, dreary winter months.
By the 1930s it had become so popular that it became the national dish of Switzerland and officially adopted the name “fondue,” derived from the French word “fondre” which means “to melt.”
