The Giving Heart Community Thanksgiving Feast is a Richmond tradition, providing food and fellowship to all who need with the help of donations and volunteers on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2020.
For those in need and with the help of those able to give donations and time, The Giving Heart will offer Carryout Meals and Curbside Meals on Thanksgiving Day. The carryout hot meals along with donations (clothing, blankets, toiletries) will be served to those who come into the Greater Richmond Convention Center (403 N 3rd St, Richmond, VA) from 11 am to 2 pm. This will be a pass through service – no seating. Masks are required of all who enter the convention center.
People in need can also save time and keep safe by ordering Curbside pickup with A Giving Heart’s online signup form. There are 3 times available: 11:30 am, 12:15 pm and 1:00 pm. Click on this pickup link to place your order. A Giving Heart will contact you before Thanksgiving about specific pickup information. Meals will be individually wrapped in microwaveable containers for heating at your convenience. Volunteers from teens and up are needed before and during the event.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: The Giving Heart has just announced a Special Thanksgiving Day need. They have received several calls to bring meals to elderly people who won’t be receiving their usual meals this year due to COVID. So if you are someone who would like to spend some time making special meal deliveries on Thanksgiving Day, please email email@example.com. With all the emails lately, it would help to put DELIVERY HELP in the subject line. Meals can be delivered starting at 11:30AM and end by 1PM.
A Richmond tradition since 2005, The Giving Heart event offers a FREE celebration of community, welcoming all to the table for food and fellowship. Special emphasis is placed on identifying – and including – the homeless, elderly individuals, working class families, local military servicemen and those who otherwise would be alone during the holiday. Traditionally, thousands of guests and volunteers join together yearly to make this a wonderful and heartwarming event.
