Tall sailing ships have arrived in Richmond!
These historical vessels with tall masts and sails are currently docked on the James River at Rockett’s Landing and ready to be boarded and toured by Richmonders in celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday celebration. They will be there June 12th, 13th and 14th.
Three tall sailing ships: The Pride of Baltimore, the Virginia from Norfolk and the Oosterschelde from the Netherlands, are the headliners for Richmond SailFest, a weekend-long celebration of both Richmond’s storied past and how that past ties in with the nation’s 250th birthday. Organized collaboratively with the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, the three day event includes historical exhibitions, re-enactors, musical performances and perhaps best of all, fireworks!
