Restaurants offering family meals on a budget

Richmond on the Cheap is all about saving time and money while enjoying life. If you are feeling like you are in an endless cycle of cooking and cleaning, there are a number of locally owned and chain restaurants that are helping us by offering reasonably-priced family meals for our enjoyment, for takeout and curbside pickup. You’re not alone in being a bit tired of cooking but also mindful of my spending right now.

El Caporal Mexican Restaurant brings together fresh ingredients for a made-to-order guacamole.

Richmond on the Cheap asked the members of the RVA Dine – Take Out & Delivery Options Facebook group for suggestions on their favorite restaurants that fit this description. Many of the readers offered images of menus to entice and inform, as you plan your menus and budgets for the week. The result shows the wide variety of results show the variety of dining styles available in the Richmond area – Mexican, American, Italian and Mediterranean. •Taste, 5706 Grove Ave. Richmond, VA 23226

•El Caporal is a small, local, family-owned chain. They have several meals for 4-6 in the $30 range. El Caporal Mexican Restaurants has a lot of family meals in the $30 range.

•Homeades by Suzanne home, heat and eat menus in the $35 range. Locations in Richmond and Ashland.

•Maldini’s (4811 Forest Hill Ave.) offers a family meal for $30 that is a ton of yummy food!

•The Broken Tulip offers food by the quart for $10 through our webshop with new menus on Tuesday and Friday. Nourishing quarts come with a starch, usually rice, and feed two people generously or three people moderately.

•The Savory Grain, 2043 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23220

•The HofGarden, 2818 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23230 – Have family make and bake menus.

•Lebanese Bakery, 6215 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23230

•Casa Italiana is offering family meals that would easily feed 5+ people. Penne Alfredo, primavera, chicken parmesan just to name a few. And they include salad and bread. Ranging from $40-$50.

•Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe [Innsbrook, Midlothian, Chesterfield] Family meals start at 27.99! The price varies depending on the protein. Includes choice of protein, Greek Salad, Rice or Potatoes, Taziki and Pita for 4 people.

•Natalie’s Taste of Lebanon, 3601 Cox Rd. Henrico

•Melissa Thomas McKenney: “I picked up a $20 meal for 4 this week at the locally-owned Potbelly Sandwich in Short Pump. Their pantry items are reasonably priced, too, and help with meal prep. The grilled chic and chicken salad were really good.”

•Sedona Taphouse, Glen Allen, Meal deals featuring steak, crab cake and salmon entrees.
