KEHILLAH CREATES INCLUSIVE HANUKKAH EXPERIENCE

Kehillah, the independent-progressive Jewish community of Richmond, is once again offering an
open and inclusive Hanukkah celebration with their Short Pump Hanukkah Party. Gather, which
provides office and coworking space throughout RVA, will host the event.

“This time of year when we’re gathering with friends and family, it isn’t always the most inclusive
moment in people’s lives,” says Kehillah’s spiritual leader, Rabbi Patrick Beaulier, “whether it’s
someone in recovery who’s surrounded by alcohol or someone who’s in an environment that
isn’t accepting of who they are.

We want to provide a space of solidarity for Jewish, recovering,
and LGBTQ+ individuals. We want Hanukkah to be accessible and welcoming to everyone.”
Point 5, Richmond’s first alcohol-free bottle shop, will be bringing an upscale, non-alcoholic
cocktail bar featuring Hanukkah-themed mixes.

Festivities will also include a live Menorah
lighting, Judaica giveaways, free donuts, dreidel games and prizes, and a coloring station for
kids.
Sponsored by Point 5, The McShin Foundation and Diversity Richmond, celebrations will take
place Saturday, December 9 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Gather’s Short Pump location (2400 Old
Brick Rd., Glen Allen, VA 23060). This is a casual, contemporary gathering: no Hebrew
experience or membership required. Interfaith and family friendly. All are welcome! The event is
free entry, but RSVP is required. Donations are encouraged to benefit Kehillah’s holiday
programming.
