HEAT WARNING
Central Virginia is currently experiencing very high outdoor temperatures. Safety is this event’s number one priority. If anyone is especially sensitive to the heat, including older adults or those with certain medical conditions, please consider whether attending is the right choice for you. Traditionally, many people bring their leashed dogs to this event because it is an alternative to loud fireworks, but please make sure your pet is up to the intense heat if considering bringing them, and bring LOTS OF WATER for them. To reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses, there will be FREE water stations, additional shade, and cooling tents available.
SUGGESTIONS
- Bring a refillable water bottle
- Pack a cooling towel
- Bring a handheld fan
- Consider an umbrella for shade
- Start hydrating right now and keep drinking water throughout the events
- Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and a visor or hat
